Greater St. Louis County Fire Academy, Inc.
Board of Directors
The Greater St. Louis County Fire Academy, Inc. Board of Directors is composed of
representatives from the Greater St. Louis Area Fire Chief's Association, the GSLAFCA-Training
Coordinates Association, the St. Louis Area Firefighters Metro Council, the Independent
Firefighters of St. Louis County, and IAFF Local 2665.  

Members of the Board of Directors are:  

    Chief Joe Bommarito, President - Riverview Fire Protection District
    Chief Bommarito has served on the Board since August 2004 and has been an
    Academy instructor since 1989.  Chief Bommarito started the Industrial          
    Training Division at the Fire Academy.  He currently serves as the Vice         
    President of the Greater St. Louis Area Fire Chiefs Association, Chairman of     
    the North Central Fire Alarm Operational Committee, is a member of the         
    EMS advisory committee to Christian Hospital, and is the Chairman of the        
    annual Chiefs Association Awards Banquet.

    Chief Bill Fox, Vice-President - Shrewsbury Fire Department
    Chief Fox has served on the Board since 1993. Chief Fox is also the Chairman  
    of the GSLAFCA-Special Programs committee, which specializes in advanced  
    training for career firefighters.





    Chief Mike Marlo, Treasurer - West Overland EMS & F.P.D.
    Chief Marlo is the Fire Chief at the West Overland EMS and Fire Protection     
    District.  He has been an instructor with the Greater St. Louis County Fire         
    Academy since 2000.  Chief Marlo has served on the Board since 2005.





    Deputy Chief Mike Flavin, Secretary - Spanish Lake F.P.D.
    Chief Flavin has served on the Board since 1991 and has also been an               
    Academy instructor since it's inception.  Chief Flavin is also President of the       
    Greater St. Louis Area Fire Chiefs Association-Training Coordinates.





    Deputy Chief Stephen Gettemeier, Member - Florissant Valley F.P.D.
    Chief Gettemeier has been a member of the Florissant Valley Fire District
    for over 31 years, for the past 15 years as the Fire Marshal.  Chief Gettemeier
    is currently the Vice President of the Fire Marshals Association of Missouri
    and has served in various capacities in both the State and Metro Fire Marshals
    Association.  He helped in the development and teaches part of the Division
    of Fire Safety Certified Fire Inspector class.  The chief has also developed
    and teaches Building Constructions classes around the State.  He has served
    as an adjunct instructor at the St. Louis County Fire Academy in the past.

                              Battalion Chief Ken Frederickson, Member - Maryland Heights F.P.D.
                             Battalion Chief Ken Frederickson attended the Paramedic program at
                             St. John's Mercy Medical Center in 1977.  He started his career as a volunteer
    with the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District in 1977.  Chief
                              Frederickson was employed by the Olivette Fire Department in 1977 as a
                             Firefighter/Paramedic and then moved on to the Maryland Heights Fire
                             District in 1979.  He has been an EMS Instructor with the St. Louis
                             Community College since 1984.  Chief Frederickson was the EMS Instructor
                             of the Year in 1988.  He was a board member of MEMSA from 1994-1996
                             and Board of Governors of NAEMT in 1995.  Chief Frederickson was
                             promoted to Medical Officer in 2007 and currently serves as the Vice
                             President of the Greater St. Louis Region Fire/EMS Officer's Association.

    Captain Phil Lopez, Member - Clayton Fire Department
    Captain Lopez has served on the Board since 2006.  Captain Lopez has also     
    been an Academy instructor since 1998 and is responsible for the physical    
    education portion of the recruit-training program.
